R & R (planning style)

After having a well rested morning, coffee and planners and list making for the long weekend.  All of Christmas must get shoved back in the shed and the boot tote has to be quelled of the worn out or unseemly footwear.  We will divvy up the rest of the candy and cookies and other goodies to each department's free table. The kitchen closet and cabinets will be an all day affair, but we will finally get all the bakeware put away.  I'm sure we will add to the list as things come up, but these are the priorities.

I am really looking forward to the new year and leaving the past behind.  My biggest goal is to stop waiting for a special occasion.  Every day is special and it's high time I treat life that way.  Break out the fancy dishes and the fun recipes for the people I love the most...my family!

Domestic Goddess Day

Time to kick into high gear and get Christmas put away!  Homes need to be found for the new items that came in and donations need gathered together. Laundry is a quick first start, a lot of new clothes this year.

I continue to find candy squirreled away in bags and boxes, time to go to someone else's house!

Making the bed is going to be my January habit, so I definitely need to find some way of getting these pillows under control. They can no longer float between rooms and flat surfaces.

It seems like my theme of the day is TIME... best get to it!

One Word for 2022

FEARLESS...

FEAR LESS...

Enough already. Enough with politics, economy, personal preference run amuck, pandemic, lock downs, masks, jabs, Karens...

Enough Fearmongering...

It's time to venture out and smile at someone, instead of frowning, running away, or sending them away.

We are human. We are social. We are loving. We are helpful. We are alive.

I am ready for life, again.

Creepy Crawly Afternoon

So, I have tried to have a working relationship with spiders...
they work at remaining unseen and I work at not smashing them to smithereens with whatever is handy, even (with much regret) Joann's coupons. BUT, when I am in "the library" and one comes from the baseboard, crawls on my foot, I scream (if no one is home to hear you scream, did it really happen?), and it just crawls back halfway and looks back at me...
IT IS BUG SPRAY WAR!
Now that I have to replace the broken toilet brush and have used half a gallon of bug killer in one small room, I feel peaceful.

My New Toy

And...It Works!!!!

It cleaned up with just a dusting wipe and a few tiny touch-ups along the bottom with a brown sharpie!

I love it!

New Things in the New Year

The new changes in our house.
A new microwave to replace the one from 1988.

A new TV to replace the 18 year old one.

A new fitness tracker, vivosmart hr, to replace my 3 year old one.

Out with the old, in with the new!

Happy New Year!

Extra Time on My Hands? At Christmas?

Sooooooo, I got all the wrapping done (I thought) and was waiting on marvelous things to come out of the oven, when what came over me?  A desire to have a new Christmas tablecloth and matching napkins!  Happily, the sewing table was still open and I have a silly amount of Christmas fabric stashed.  Up pops the ironing board and down I sat to enjoy a quick run with my friendly Viking.

Wow, this fabric had been folded up for a long time! I had to starch, heavily, to get the creases out of it.

I love the little holly leaves!

If you look closely,
you can see that I'm a semi-practitioner of free-sewing (pins are for cowards...LOL), it's kind of like free-running, but easier on the knees and a lot less tiring!

Now I have some poinsettia fabric laid out on the table, just waiting for a vision of what it wants to become.  It fell out of the rack when I was trying to straighten up, so that is a sign that I must figure out something to do with it, because I will never get it shoved back on the shelf.

Merry Christmas!
Happy New Year!
